Colourful Vintage Spring Inspired Real Wedding At The Pilgrims Rest

I am so excited to share this intimate vintage wedding from earlier this year. Suzanne and Duncan hired me to add a touch of vintage charm to the beautiful Pilgrims Rest in Battle, East Sussex. This lovely couple enlisted my help to create the metres of vintage floral fabric to adorned the rustic beams, a ceremony backdrop, bespoke chalk board signage, a vintage afternoon tea reception complete with vintage floral centrepieces, a top table backdrop and a guest book and gift area.

Take a peek at their romantic, vintage Spring wedding as we get all nosey and ask Suzanne and Duncan a few questions...

How did you meet?
We met on a blind date, the date was only meant to last for the afternoon, but we were still chatting and laughing hours later.

Can you tell us how you got engaged?
Duncan took me away for my birthday for a surprise weekend in Venice. On the last day he proposed in a little café next to the Rialto Bridge. We then went to a small jewelers on the bridge and chose the engagement ring. It was such a surprise and so romantic!

Where did the ceremony take place? Tell us a little about why you choose the venue?
Our ceremony and reception took place at the Pilgrims Rest in Battle, East Sussex. We loved the beautiful old building and the fact we could be decorate it how we wanted. Amy the Wedding Coordinator was so lovely we were confident that everything would run smoothly.

What were your favourite memories from the day?
My youngest Daughter is 10 years old, she read ‘The Very Lovely Dinosaur’ by Edward Monkton during the service and my Son gave a beautiful speech on behalf of him and his sisters welcoming Duncan officially into our family as their Stepdad.

What advice would you give to other couples planning their wedding?
We were both so excited and so happy! We had such a lovely day everything was so relaxed. I would say be open to suggestions from your suppliers and listen to their advice. Also go with what you want for your day rather than trying to fit into a standard wedding. Most of all relax on the day and enjoy it.

I had so much fun working with Suzanne and Duncan who hired my full styling package. I love being able to bring a couples vision to life, and being able to suggest creative ideas that couples might not have thought of. From the initial consultation through to creating mood boards and designs for each styling element to setting the tables on the morning of their day and pulling together all the little finishing touches. head over to my wedding styling packages to find out more.
